Who Can See Your Online Prescription?

by on October 5, 2026

When you get a prescription through Starfish.com, the people who see it are the ones involved in your care: the licensed clinician who reviews your questionnaire, and the pharmacy you choose to fill it.

We do not sell your personal information or share it with third parties for their marketing. We also do not bill insurance, so no claim goes to your insurer from us. For more information, see our privacy policy and FAQ.

Beyond that, your prescription only shows up where you choose to use your insurance, HSA or FSA. Each is covered below.

Who Sees What

Who What they see
The clinician Your questionnaire answers and health history, so they can decide whether a prescription is right for you
Your pharmacy The prescription, with your name and details, so they can fill it and have it ready for pickup
Your insurer Nothing from us. They see a pharmacy claim only if you use insurance to pay for the medication
Your HSA or FSA administrator The charge, and an itemized receipt if they ask for one to confirm the expense qualifies
Marketers and advertisers Nothing. We do not sell or share your personal information for their marketing

The Clinician and the Pharmacy

A licensed clinician reviews your questionnaire to decide on treatment. If a prescription is appropriate, it goes to the pharmacy you pick when you place your order, and you collect the medication there.

You choose the pharmacy, so you decide where you pick it up, whether that is near home, near work or somewhere else.

If you need care elsewhere, for example in a hospital, we may share the health information needed with the providers treating you.

Insurance, HSA and FSA

We do not process insurance claims. We can give you an itemized receipt to submit to your insurer for reimbursement, if you choose to. If you do not submit it, no claim for our fee goes to your insurer.

At the pharmacy, you decide how to pay for the medication. If you use insurance, the pharmacy sends that claim to your plan, as it would for any prescription. If you are on someone else’s plan, the plan holder may see claims in their statements. Paying for the medication without insurance keeps it off your plan.

HSA and FSA cards are accepted. The account administrator may ask for an itemized receipt to confirm that the expense qualifies.

Private Care From Home

Answer a short questionnaire. A licensed clinician reviews it and, if it is appropriate, sends a prescription to the pharmacy you choose.

FAQ

Will my employer find out?

We do not bill your insurance, so nothing goes to an employer health plan from us. If you pay for the medication with insurance through work, the pharmacy claim goes to that plan like any other prescription.

Does Starfish.com sell my information?

No. We do not sell your personal information or share it with third parties for their direct marketing.

Can I see what Starfish.com holds about me?

Yes, for your health information. You can ask to see and get a copy of it by emailing [email protected]. Depending on where you live, you may also be able to ask for a copy of your other personal information, or for it to be corrected or deleted.

Is my information kept confidential?

Yes. We are committed to complying with HIPAA and are required by law to keep your health information private.
